LinkedIn launches a Tool to gauge workforce skills better

To help recruiters tap into a talented workforce, professional social network site LinkedIn on Wednesday launched its first self-service analytics product called "Talent Insights".

With this tool, firms can now take the guesswork out of their hiring strategies and equip themselves with the market and geo-agnostic intelligence to understand their workforce better.

"Building on the era of talent intelligence, 'Talent Insights' helps in making strategic talent decisions with an insight into the movement and development of talent.

"This brings a new level of transparency to the talent marketplace by identifying an organisation's future needs in terms of size, structure, skills, experience and industry knowledge," the company said in a statement.

The new tool offers data on demand and ensures actionable insights by harnessing real-time updates by tapping into professional social network site's over 575 million professionals, more than 20 million companies and over 15 million active job listings.

The tool is accessible across various regions, industries and levels within an organisation.

"Talent Insights" is simple and easy-to-use, thus, making it possible for recruiters, HR and talent leaders to understand market trends at any given moment, without relying on a team of data scientists.

Create Your Resume with “Resume Assistant” from Microsoft and LinkedIn

Last year, LinkedIn announced "Resume Assistant", which integrates the power of LinkedIn directly into Microsoft Word to help you craft your most compelling resume yet. Now, Resume Assistant is available to Office 365 subscribers on Windows to help showcase the best version of you and land the job you love.

With over 15 million job applications being submitted on LinkedIn every week, finding the right way to represent your unique experience is important. By regularly updating your resume, you’ll already be one step ahead when the time comes to find your next role.

Here’s how you can make the most of Resume Assistant:

Showcase your unique skills and experience. Resume Assistant gathers insights from millions of LinkedIn profiles to inspire you with examples of how others in similar roles - or aspirational roles - describe their work experience, directly within Microsoft Word. Use these examples as inspiration to frame your own personal experiences or shine a spotlight on your unique set of skills to make sure you stand out from the crowd.

Ditch the one-size-fits-all resume. More than 50% of professionals find it challenging to customize their resume for a specific role. Resume Assistant provides the top skills other professionals in your desired role and industry have, as well as job requirements from real job postings. You can then think about how your applicable skills can be transferable to the role you want, then tailor your resume to fit that role.

Seek out help along the way. Having an expert who’s familiar with the intricacies of writing a resume can be a great way to help you get the creativity flowing. Use ProFinder, LinkedIn's freelance hiring marketplace, directly from Resume Assistant, to connect with experts who can help you with interview techniques, career coaching, and resume writing.

The right job for you is closer than you think. Writing your resume is only half the journey; finding and landing the job that’s right for you come next. After selecting a role and desired industry, Resume Assistant will surface relevant job opportunities for you directly within Microsoft Word. Once you spot a job you like, go directly to the job opening on LinkedIn to learn more about the opportunity and apply. You can even let recruiters know that you’re open to new opportunities by turning on Open Candidates, making you twice as likely to hear from recruiters.

And of course, don’t forget to let your passion shine through in your resume and LinkedIn profile to showcase your unique strengths and genuine interest in the role.

Resume Assistant can make it easier than ever for you to put your most successful self forward when applying for your next role. Be on the lookout for availability across other operating systems, as well as additional regions and languages in the coming months.

LinkedIn Launches 'Scheduler' to ease hiring process

Professional social network site LinkedIn launched a new tool called "Scheduler" that will help ease the hiring process both for recruiters and candidates as well as avoid fallouts.
"LinkedIn Scheduler" automates initial interview scheduling for recruiters and candidates, directly via InMail.

The new tool would help candidates and recruiters save time spent on scheduling a meeting and help recruiters focus their energies on hiring strategically and onboarding the best candidate, the Microsoft-owned company said in a statement.

Using this feature, candidates or recruiters can reach each other via InMail to see one's calendar availability and reserve an interview time that works best for both.It also gives candidates the liberty to feed in their contact information to accelerate this process.

"Our goal is to help you spend less time on the back-and-forth-and a lot more time delighting, advising, and helping candidates make the decision to join your company," said Peter Rigano, Senior Product Manager at LinkedIn.

"LinkedIn 'Scheduler' is just the latest way that we're working to make recruiters more productive, powerful, and personal," Rigano added. To use the feature, recruiters first need to automatically provide availability via InMail by syncing "Scheduler" to Office 365 or Google calendar. This would automatically set the availability for potential interview times. Then, using a new "InMail" message, recruiters can easily send a scheduling link directly to the candidate of interest.

The link shares a real-time view of the recruiter's calendar availability with candidates who can then choose what time works best for them, add their phone number and confirm the meeting.Further, advance settings allow recruiters to manage preferences such as time zones, availability, length of meetings and same-day meetings.

LinkedIn has brightened Microsoft’s growth prospects ever since the latter completed its acquisition in 2016. Since then, LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner, who joined Microsoft’s senior leadership team as part of the $26.2 billion acquisition has been exploring analytics, AI, bots and other latest technologies to come up with strategies for talent acquisition leader, HR managers and headhunters, changing the recruiting scenario across the world.
