Baker Hughes wins oil wells contract from Saudi Aramco - Create 200 Jobs

Baker Hughes, a GE company, has been awarded a major stimulation and well-testing contract by Saudi Aramco to be a partner in optimising production from new and existing wells across conventional fields in Saudi Arabia.

BHGE said it will deliver a comprehensive well services solution including all cased-hole wireline logging, perforation, well testing, stimulation, fracturing and associated intervention services.

The three-year contract includes the option of two one-year extensions and the project is expected to start later this month.

The work is expected to create more than 200 new engineering, field services and project management jobs, and indirectly supports an additional 300 existing jobs, a statement said.

Mohammed Y Al Qahtani, senior vice president of upstream at Saudi Aramco, said: “The contract further reinforces our integration efforts across conventional fields in Saudi Arabia, helping maintain capacity and meet domestic and global demand. We are pleased to work with BHGE as a partner with proven expertise in the country.”

“The contract underpins the strength of our portfolio and demonstrates our ability to deliver comprehensive good solutions to improve productivity, reliability and efficiency for our customers,” added Lorenzo Simonelli, chairman, president and CEO of BHGE.

With over 2,700 employees in the country, BHGE has more than 10 facilities for manufacturing, maintenance and R&D in the Gulf kingdom.

GEMS Education Create 16,000 Jobs in Saudi Arabia

GEMS Education and Hassana Investment Company – a Saudi asset management firm that is part of the General Organization for Social Insurance – have penned an $800 million deal to build a network of new schools across the kingdom.

According to a statement, the joint venture is a first of its kind in Saudi Arabia and “will open up the Saudi education sector to foreign investment.”

The partnership was announced on the sidelines of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference in Riyadh. Officials said the educational network will be able to accommodate up to 130,000 students and create jobs for 16,000 people, around 40 per cent of whom are expected to be Saudi nationals.

“This partnership is driven by our view that the education market in Saudi Arabia is one of the most attractive growth markets over the long term,” Hassana chief executive Saad Al-Fadhli said.

“Both partners expect to create a strong and successful education platform in Saudi Arabia.”
Additionally, GEMS KSA CEO Majed Al Mutairi said that the company is a “strong supporter of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.”

“The Vision’s focus on opening up public service sectors such as education highlights a commitment to developing human capital and allowing the private sector to enable long-term positive change for Saudi citizens,” he said.

Al Mutairi added that “the education sector, acknowledged as a major catalyst for change, will help create a new generation of Saudi citizens with a global perspective that is strongly rooted in the Kingdom’s culture.”

At the FII conference, the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) also announced a series of MoUs worth $2.4 billion, including a $1.6 billion deal between NMC Health and Hassana to develop medical facilities in Saudi Arabia.

The joint venture will become one of the largest private healthcare operators in Saudi Arabia and is expected to employ up to 10,000 employees over the next five years.

Saudi's Flynas airline to hire 500 Pilots, Cabin crew


Flynas, the Saudi low-cost airline opened employment applications to young men and women for its Future Pilots and Flight Attendants programs.

Flynas said that the Future Pilots program aims to recruit 200 male and female pilots over the next five years, while the Flight Attendants program aims to attract 300 cabin crew within two years.

Flynas added in a statement that it will consider the working hours and will allocate a uniform for Saudi female flight attendants in line with the country's customs and traditions.

The Riyadh-based airline said that it will be the first among Saudi carriers to recruit women in senior positions.

The move aims to enable Saudi women to have a greater role in supporting the kingdom’s economy, CEO Bandar Almohanna said.

Flynas said that applicants should be of Saudi nationality, fluent in English, hold a minimum of a high-school certificate, and must match the international aviation standards in relation to his/her weight and height.


"Flynas is keen on empowering Saudi women to play their important role in the kingdom's transformation in line with their qualifications and suitability. Women are distinguished in many areas at flynas and are an essential part of its success," it added.

Established in 2007, flynas has a fleet of 30 Airbus A320 Aircraft, operating over 1,100 flights weekly to 17 domestic destinations and 53 international destinations.

Since its launch, flynas has carried more than 38 million passengers from its bases of Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Abha.
