His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime
Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, approved Dubai's budget for 2019 with
total expenditures of Dh56.8 billion.
General revenues are estimated at Dh51 billion
this year, up 1.2 per cent from 2018. General and administrative expenses, grants
and subsidies represent 47 per cent of total expenditure, which is up by 5 per
cent. While expenditure on health,
education and housing sectors represent
33 per cent of the total budget.
The disciplined financial policies of the
Government of Dubai achieved an operating surplus of Dh850 million.
The budget will create 2,498 new jobs in 2019,
said a statement posted on Sheikh Mohammed's website.
Dubai's 2018 budget was Dh56.6 billion budget
with a focus on infrastructure projects led by Expo 2020 and social development
programmes to create more than 3,100 jobs next year.
