UAE-based airlines - Emirates and Etihad - are
looking for pilots and first officers for their ever-expanding fleet of
aircraft. Both airlines consistently feature among the best carriers across the
world, and it's no surprise that they are looking for the very best to fly them
into the skies.
Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways posted some job
positions, including that of aircraft captain, first officer and flight
instructor.
Etihad Airways began operations in 2003, and in
2014 carried 14.8 million passengers. From its Abu Dhabi base, Etihad Airways
flies to or has announced plans to serve 111 passenger and cargo destinations
in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas. The
airline has a fleet of 117 Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and more than 200
aircraft on firm order, including 71 Boeing 787s, 25 Boeing 777-X, 62 Airbus
A350s and 10 Airbus A380s, according to the website.
The vacancies are for A320, B777 and B787
services.
A captain for passenger A320, B777 and B787
will get a starting monthly salary of Dh35,200 a month and an annual salary
increment of 2 percent. Meanwhile, a
first officer flying a passenger A320, B777 and B787 will take home Dh26,000
every month and an annual salary increment of 2 percent.
Captains and first officers with passenger
services get 42 days of annual leave every year, and flight duty allowance of
Dh40 per flying hour.
All captains and first officers will get life
and accident insurance, staff travel benefits, and end of service benefits.
They are also eligible for housing allowance up to Dh160,000 per year and
allowance of Dh36,000 for primary education and Dh50,400 for secondary
education of up to 4 children.
Emirates is one of the fastest-growing airlines
in the world, operating a modern fleet of over 200 wide-bodied aircraft across
a global network of more than 155 destinations across six continents. Emirates is also the world's largest operator
for the Boeing 777 and Airbus 380.
According to a job posting on the Emirates website, the airline is
looking for captains and first officers for Airbus A380 and Boeing 777
aircraft.
The vacancies are for A380 and B777 passenger,
and B777 Skycargo freighter.
A captain for passenger A380 and B777 will get
a total monthly salary of Dh58,770 tax-free (accommodation allowance included),
while a B777 Skycargo freight captain will earn Dh47,875 tax-free
(accommodation allowance included) per month.
A first officer flying a passenger A380 or B777
will take home a total salary Dh44,450 (tax-free, accommodation allowance
included) every month, while a first officer with the freight services will
earn Dh35,935 tax-free (accommodation allowance included) monthly.
Captains and first officers with passenger
services get 42 days of annual leave every year, while those associated with
the freight services get only 12 days a year.
Looking at the roster, captains and first
officers with passenger services get minimum eight days off a month and work on average 800-900 hours every
year.
Those associated with freight services have '28 days on/13 days off' roster and work on average 500-600 hours
yearly.
All captains and first officers will get life
and accident insurance, medical and dental coverage, and loss of licence
insurance.
They also get chauffeur drive facility,
platinum discount cards, company uniforms and dry cleaning.
