Automaker Mahindra & Mahindra to hire 300 Graduates from Campuses

Automaker Mahindra & Mahindra is looking at hiring close to 300 class of 2018 graduates from engineering and business schools. Last year, too, it had hired a similar number of students from campuses. Most of these new recruits will be engineers and they will become part of the teams working on designs, new technologies (mostly automation) and electric vehicles.

“Among all the teams, we are hiring aggressively for the electric vehicle solutions. This is clearly one of the focus areas in the company,” chief people officer Rajeshwar Tripathi told. The company is expected to hire 600-700 people this year, including campus recruitment and replacement hiring. It has about 22,000 staff, of which nearly 16,000 are blue-collared employees. The SUV and tractor manufacturer is looking closely at incorporating new technologies, including artificial intelligence and robotics, across various functions.

“To begin with, we are in talks with a few tech companies to design bot for induction and learning programmes. These are the few areas where we were not able to plug gaps for some time and now are taking the help of new technologies to do so,” executive vice president Prince Augustin said.

Women constitute 20% of the total workforce numbers at M&M. “The work going forward is also to improve the diversity numbers and for this, we are trying to make sure we have 50% women of the total applicant pool,” said Augustin.
