SAP Labs India to hire 2,500 engineers

SAP Labs India is likely to hire 2,500 employees over the next two years with the inauguration of a new facility in its Bengaluru campus with the capacity to hold as many people.The company has hired around 1,500 employees in each of the past two years in India. The 5.15 lakh square feet new facility has been established with an investment of 50 million euros.

Since the past two years, our focus has been on hiring engineers directly from the top colleges rather than looking for experienced hands, said Dilipkumar Khandelwal, managing director for SAP Labs India. SAP has more than 10,000 employees in India, with 7,500 of them working in the engineering division called SAP Labs. SAP has 85,000 employees across the globe.

“Our lateral hires have come down. We are looking to beef up mobility technologies across our products and platforms. Youngsters are the ones who do everything on the phone and they add immense value to our research, “Khandelwal said. In 2016, SAP's campus hiring was 43% of its total hiring. The company is targeting to take this up to 60% in the coming times.

 

The German enterprise software company has made a cumulative investment of $1 billion in India so far. The India division is the second largest facility outside of the German headquarters and participates in the development of its entire spectrum of products, in testing and delivery. About 85% of its India staff is in Bengaluru

SAP has also just announced the expansion of its startup studio programme ­ it will help accelerate 16 startups this year as against 7 last year. The company has allocated $35 million in assistance for the startups that are part of the programme. The studio will have 100 seats. SAP is also connecting over 250 startups with 30 venture capitalists through its pitching session called Startup Social.
